BSIA seminar to help installers understand cyber risks of connected security products
The BSIA is hosting a free half-day seminar on 2 November in the West Midlands which aims to inform delegates about the potential cyber risks of 'connected products' i.e. security products that can be accessed or operated remotely via the internet (intruder alarms, video surveillance systems and access control). The seminar will explore ways in which these vulnerabilities can be combatted.
The seminar will include presentations from a wide range of cyber security experts including the West Midlands Police digital cyber crime team and the Scottish Business Resilience Centre’s team of ‘ethical hackers’.
The seminar will also provide delegates with a summary of the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which is coming into force in May 2018 which will have implications for businesses on how they process and handle personal data.
The seminar will be of particular interest to security and fire safety installers with an interest in improving their business’ cyber security and data protection policies.

The seminar is taking place at the Greswolde Arms Hotel, Knowle, Solihull, B93 0LL on 2 November 2017 between 09.00 and 13.30.
